Keisei adds a 5:20 a.m. Skyliner from Ueno, 20 minutes before today's first train: weekends and holidays from Nov 21, weekdays from Nov 24, 2026. Arrival times at Narita, the adult fare (¥2,580), the weekend evening change and what we could not confirm.

From Saturday, November 21, 2026, the first Keisei Skyliner of the day leaves Keisei Ueno at 5:20 a.m., 20 minutes earlier than the current 5:40 a.m. first train. It reaches Narita Airport Terminal 2·3 at 6:01 a.m. and Narita Airport (Terminal 1) at 6:03 a.m. The new timetable starts on November 21 for weekends and holidays and on Tuesday, November 24 for weekdays. If you have an early departure from Narita, here is what changes and what stays the same.

DOJI is an independent travel publication. We have no business relationship with Keisei Electric Railway, and this guide is not endorsed by Keisei. Times and prices below come from Keisei's official Skyliner timetable and ticket pages, checked on November 5, 2026 (Eastern time), plus a Travel Watch news report on the timetable change. Times are Japan time (JST). Japan is 14 hours ahead of Eastern time in winter. Timetables and fares can change, so check Keisei's pages again before you travel.

The short version

  • New first train: Keisei Ueno 5:20 → Nippori 5:25 → Airport Terminal 2·3 6:01 → Narita Airport (Terminal 1) 6:03. Same times on weekdays and on weekends/holidays.
  • Starts: weekend and holiday timetable from November 21, 2026; weekday timetable from November 24, 2026. Until then, the first Skyliner is still 5:40 a.m. from Keisei Ueno.
  • What it is: an added early train. The 5:40 a.m. Skyliner keeps running after it.
  • Also new on weekends and holidays: the 6:00 p.m. Evening Liner from Keisei Ueno, which now ends at Keisei-Narita, becomes a Skyliner to the airport.
  • Price (adult, Ueno or Nippori to either airport station): fare ¥1,280 plus Skyliner charge ¥1,300, so ¥2,580 with a paper ticket (IC card fare ¥1,267, so ¥2,567).

The first trains, old and new

From Keisei's official Skyliner timetables, outbound toward the airport:

Until Nov 20, weekdays (first train)5:405:456:216:24
From Nov 24, weekdays (new first train)5:205:256:016:03
From Nov 24, weekdays (second train)5:405:456:226:28
From Nov 21, weekends/holidays (new first train)5:205:256:016:03
From Nov 21, weekends/holidays (second train)5:405:466:236:26

Note that the 5:40 a.m. train arrives a few minutes later on the new timetable than it does now. The early trains do not stop at Aoto or Shin-Kamagaya.

Is it early enough for your flight?

That depends on your airline, your terminal and whether you check bags. Airlines set their own check-in and bag-drop deadlines, and they are often earlier for international flights. We are not saying the 5:20 a.m. train will get you to any particular flight on time. Check your airline's deadline, then work back from the arrival times above, and leave a margin in case of delays.

You also need to reach Keisei Ueno or Nippori by about 5:15 a.m. Check how you will get there at that hour before you rely on this train.

The weekend evening change

Travel Watch reports that on weekends and holidays, the 6:00 p.m. Evening Liner from Keisei Ueno to Keisei-Narita becomes a Skyliner to Narita Airport. Keisei's new weekend timetable shows a 6:00 p.m. Skyliner from Keisei Ueno arriving at Airport Terminal 2·3 at 6:41 p.m. and Narita Airport at 6:43 p.m.

Tickets and prices

From Keisei's official ticket page, for an adult between Keisei Ueno or Nippori and Airport Terminal 2·3 or Narita Airport:

Paper ticketIC card (Suica/PASMO)

Total¥2,580¥2,567

Children pay ¥640 (paper) or ¥633 (IC) for the fare plus a ¥650 Skyliner charge. All Skyliner seats are reserved. Keisei sells tickets at Skyliner stations, through travel agents, online, and by phone, and says counter sales open one month before the travel date. Discount and bundle tickets also exist. Check their conditions on Keisei's site.

What we could not confirm

  • Whether the 5:20 a.m. train sells out. Keisei does not publish seat availability in advance.
  • Online booking for the new train before November 21. We did not try to book it.
  • How you can reach Ueno or Nippori before 5:20 a.m. from your hotel. That depends on where you stay.
  • Any later changes to the timetable. Keisei can still revise it, so check again close to your date.

Checklist
